Dishwasher Resistance

Dishwasher resistance is an important feature of glazes that are used for dishes in the gastronomy. If glazes are cleaned in the dishwasher, the washing liquor, the high temperature and the movement will impact the glaze. This is expressed by etching off the glaze surface, so that it either becomes more matt or in many cases has an iridescent gloss.

Test condition: 5% washing soda solution that was heated to 80 °C and set in motion. The assessment is made after 2, 4, 6 and 8 hours of treatment, whereby long-term wear is to be determined.

Assessment: optical impact, i.e. there is either a matting, an iridescent effect or colour removal from the glaze surface.

When using dishes in catering, glazes with good dishwasher resistance should be used, otherwise it is recommended to wash the dishes by hand.
