Hazardous Material

Glaze mixtures can contain different hazardous materials depending on their formulation, which means that the glaze powder must be regarded as a product with labelling obligation. There are also hazardous elements that come in a bound form in the glaze powder (e.g. cadmium-selenium-inclusion pigments), which are free of labeling!

However, these hazardous elements take part in the glaze formation and later might be leached out of the fired glaze by food acid. This means, that even a labeling-free glaze powder is no longer suitable for dishes that may come into contact with food (according to EC1935/2004).
